How NOT to be terrible at public speaking
Standing in front of a room full of people while they all stare at you is, apparently, something we’re supposed to take in our stride.
If the thought of public speaking makes you want to hide behind the nearest PowerPoint slide, you’re not alone. The good news is, you don’t need to become a natural-born speaker, learn multiple presentation techniques, or develop the confidence of a TED Talk presenter to learn to enjoy public speaking.
In this 20-minute mini session, comedian and professional speaker, Sam Avery, shares some of the simple things he’s learned from two decades of performing in front of audiences who have absolutely no obligation to laugh.
You’ll discover practical ways to manage nerves, connect with an audience, sound more confident and make your message more memorable. No complicated theory. No motivational shouting. Just useful techniques you can use the next time someone says, “Can you just say a few words?”
Sam is kindly delivering this talk for FREE but any donations you're able to make to The Comedy Trust would be very much appreciated. Sam will be able to accept card or cash donations on the day.
